TUM (Technical University of Mombasa) Grading System for all Courses: All students Transcripts score i.e. the examination results for each subject score will represent as grades. In TUM Grading System each grade represents the status of the score.

TUM Grading System
- TUM uses the Mark Grade System. Course Mark is a measure of performance of a student for a Semester. A course mark ranges from 0 to 100%.
- Each course is assessed based on the Continuous Assessment Test and end of semester examinations. Distribution of marks is subject to the Faculties/Schools/ Institutes rules and regulations.
- The letter grades with their corresponding percentage range values as shown below:

70% and above | A |
60% and above but less than 70% | B |
50% and above but less than 60% | C |
40% and above but less than 50% | D |
*Below 40% | E |
*Pass mark for taught Doctorate, masters, medical courses and some programmes that are regulated by professional bodies is 50%.
The letter grades having no corresponding numerical values are used as qualifiers to
indicate the status of the student. The following are the qualifiers in use:
- RA = Readmission
- RP = Repeat course
- R = Repeat Year
- RSO = Repeat Stay Out
- M = Mid-entry
- P = Passed course on Pass/Fail – (no grading)
- F = Failed Course on Pass/Fail – (no grading)
- SU = Supplementary
- SP = Special
- I = Incomplete course
- D = De-registered and/or revoke
- W = A course withdrawn
- IP = Illegal Progression
