Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) Grading System for all Courses Undergraduate (UG) and Diploma, postgraduate degrees and Diploma Programmes.
Normally, the evaluation shall be based on continuous assessment as well as formal examinations. Unless otherwise approved by the Senate, the continuous assessment will contribute between 25% and 50% of the overall assessment. The contribution of continuous assessment will differ from faculty to faculty as provided for under respective faculty
regulations
GZU Grading System
All Bachelor’s degrees shall be classified in the following classes:
- First Class,
- Upper Second Class,
- Lower Second Class,
- Pass
The following Grading and Classication System shall be adopted for all Modules and Undergraduate Degree and Diploma programmes:

The following Grading and Classication shall be adopted for all Modules and Postgraduate Degrees and Diploma Programmes:
- 80% and above Distinction
- 70%- 79% Merit
- 60%-69% Credit
- 50%-59% Pass
- 40%-49% Fail (Supplementary)
- 39% and below Fail
